The Massachusetts Studies Project

The Massachusetts Studies Project is an outreach project for educators and students located at the University of Massachusetts Boston in the Institute for Learning and Teaching. Its mission is to ground students in their own communities by localizing the curriculum. The MSP supports education reform to enhance lifelong learning in three ways:

1. Providing Massachusetts-related information and curriculum materials through databases on the World Wide Web that encourage community research and involvement in relevant experiences;
2. Professional development training for teachers to integrate technology and relate resources to curriculum frameworks;
3. Development of instructional materials and resources where not already available.
