These papers and photographs were donated to the Archives and Special Collections Department of the Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston Library by Josephine Kilbourn, Doris Oberg’s daughter, on May 4, 2010.
Biography
Doris Oberg of Quincy, Massachusetts, documented the history of the Dorchester Pottery Works from the 1960s through the 1980s. She photographed the last time the pottery’s brick beehive kiln was fired in 1965. Mrs. Oberg presented a slide lecture entitled Dorchester Pottery: the Making of a Collector’s Item numerous times. She was involved with the Dorchester Pottery Museum group that attempted to save the pottery site as a museum in the late 1970s. She died in 1993.
