Biography

In 1982 Louise Bruyn served as one of the chief organizers in Greater Boston to mobilize Boston Freeze activists to participate in the June 12th rally in New York City for nuclear disarmament. The rally was timed to coincide with the UN SSD-II. The Boston organizers arranged for Boston, Cambridge and other cities in the area to support the rally by passing resolutions for a Preventative Evacuation Day, satirizing the federal evacuation plans in case of nuclear incidents. The Boston group arranged for transportation to New York for the rally, which was held in Central Park. As many as one million people attended the June 12th event in 1982.
