Provenance

Some of these photographs were transferred to the UMass Boston Archives by the UMass Amherst Archives, and some were collectted by library staff. The rest have come from a variety of sources, but are not part of a specific office's files.

Scope and Content

This collection is divided into four sections: Events, Buildings, People, and Miscellaneous. People appear in all four categories, but the People section contains photographs specifically of people, rather than of an event or buildings. Photographs in the buildings section usually also contain candid images of students and other people. Most of the photographs are black and white, some are in color, some are contact sheets, a few are slides. There are a few color transparencies. Many photos have photographers’ names on the back, or the folder title includes her/his name. Folders containing negatives are marked with a "N." Folders containing transparencies are marked with a "T." There are photographs of both the downtown and harbor campuses. A few folders include papers. The collection includes two drawings.
