Clark Edson Taylor was born in 1934 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and earned a B.A. in history from DePauw University in 1956. He was a member of the planning staff for UMass/Boston's College of Public and Community Service in 1972-73 and became a faculty member at CPCS in 1973. He earned a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Rutgers University in 1976.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of original and copies of CPCS correspondence and reports, and of Taylor's correspondence, research and interview notes, clippings, and diary entries. Taylor used much of this material for his 1975 Rutgers University Ph.D. Dissertation "Planning an Urban Experimental College: a Case Study of the CPCS," which covers the founding and early history of the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and CPCS. The material Taylor collected after writing his dissertation provides some information about CPCS from 1975 through 1984. A copy of the dissertation is available in the Archives Department.
