History

The Boston-based national organization, Gold Star Parents for Amnesty, was originally funded through the Veatch Program of the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1973 with Pat Simon as the founder and director. The U.S. government awarded a gold star to parents whose child died in a foreign war. The GSPA worked to strengthen the national movement for a general and unconditional amnesty for all those who resisted participation in the Vietnam War.

Scope and Content

The records include administrative files, mailing lists, correspondence, resource files, lobbying files, and publicity materials. There is also some material relating to the Massachusetts Coalition for Amnesty.
