Printing Instructions

Printing is a two step process. First, from any public workstation you may print from any of the networked printers. Laptop users must follow some additional steps. Afterwards, you must visit a Print Release Station to have your print job released from the printer. The following steps will walk you through the process:

First, send your print job from any public workstation in the Library

  1. Choose print. (e.g. selecting File -> Print or by pressing the appropriate Print icon.)

    Select printer 9050 on PHAROS-SERVER.

    print dialog box
    Click for larger image.
  2. You may select Properties to change the settings (e.g. Print on Both Sides and Portrait / Landscape Orientation).
  3. PLEASE NOTE: For “Print on both sides”, documents must be printed on the UL (Computing Lab) printers, NOT on the 4thfloor (Library) printers.
    1. Enter your UMB e-mail username and password.
    2. Enter a name for the print job (e.g. English 101 Paper).

      print dialog box
      Click for larger image.

    3. Select Print.

Second, you must release the print job from a Print Release Station

There are two print release stations on the 4th floor. If you are having trouble with your account, please contact the IT Service Desk.

  1. Login to a Print Release Station
    1. If you are a student currently enrolled in a class:
      1. Enter your UMB e-mail username and password exactly as you did when you submitted the print job.
    2. If you are not a student, check with the staff at the desk about guest access.
  2. If you have free pages remaining on your account, you may:
    1. With the mouse, select the print job you'd like to release and click print.
  3. Otherwise, you must:
    1. Swipe a copy / print card with sufficient value into the card reader.
    2. With the mouse, select the print job you'd like to release and click print.
  4. When you are done, select logout.

Printing from a Laptop

In order to print using wireless internet, you must connect to the UMB-Open network. If you are using a laptop from the Healey Library's laptop loan program, you can follow the above steps.

Currently, you may not print from a personal laptop.
