Study Spaces

Study Rooms

Anyone wanting to use a study room must check in with the Circulation Desk. The study room may then be used for up to 2 hours.

Ten study rooms are available on the eighth floor: four large group study rooms (6 to 8 people), four small group study rooms (4 to 6 people), and two small rooms (no more than 2 people). The study rooms on the 8th floor have two dry-erase boards each.

One large room that can seat up to 15 people is on the sixth floor. This room has a large blackboard.

  • All study rooms have multiple electrical outlets.
  • We do not supply chalk or dry erase markers.
  • Patrons should not rearrange the rooms in any way.

Study Carrels

The sixth floor has approximately 60 individual carrels on the plaza side of the building while the Morrissey Boulevard side has larger open tables. There are approximately eight study carrels on the eighth floor.

Note that the majority of the old wooden carrels on the 8th floor are now assigned to the Athletic Study facility.

Quiet Areas

The 6th floor is the only designated quiet area in the library building. We ask that you refrain from group study, turn off your cellphone, and use earphones when using any electronic devices.

Other Areas of Interest

  • Several couches and tables on the 2nd and 3rd floor overlook the harbor.
