Healey Library Computer Usage Policy
All electronic resources located in the Healey Library are for use by the students, faculty and staff of UMass Boston. All users should be prepared to present their current UMass Boston ID to Library staff if requested.
Non UMB users may use the library workstations for academic research, subject to availability. Please consult with the Reference Desk Staff for access assistance. Proof of identification may be requested and must be provided if asked by a library staff person.
Non UMB visitors under the age of 16 must be chaperoned by a responsible adult over the age of 21, or they must have a UMB ID card indicating their affiliation with a UMB campus program. Chaperones must accompany all underage Non UMB affiliated young persons at all times. Visitors observed to be under the age of 16 may be asked to produce UMB identification or other identification verifying their age. Visitors not complying with this request for ID or under the age of 16 unaccompanied by a chaperone will be asked to leave the Library.
The following rules apply to all users of computers at Healey Library.
Library workstations are for educational and academic purposes only. Please, no games and no personal chat, etc.
Cell phone ring tone(s) must be turned off while working at the computer workstations. Cell phone usage while at computers is discouraged; please move to other areas on the floor away from computer stations to use cell phones.
No food or beverages are allowed at the computer workstations.
Headphones must be used if audio is required for your research. Headphones are not supplied by the library. Volume of audio must be such that sound is not heard by other users.
Computer use and personal behavior must be appropriate for an academic environment and consistent with university regulations.
Use of non academic resources and internet sites that are considered offensive are prohibited. Patrons reported or observed to be using these types of resources and sites will be asked to cease and desist. Patron(s) not complying with these regulations will be asked to leave the library.
