Borrowing Books Through Online Requests
Interlibrary Loan
Healey Library’s Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery service is another way that UMB faculty, staff, and students enrolled in degree programs may access the collections and resources in other libraries.
At no cost to you, ILL staff will obtain for you books, photocopies or e-copies of chapters within books, journal articles, and other materials which are not found in Healey Library's collection.

Borrowing Books In Person
Healey Library’s consortia memberships allow UMB students, faculty, and staff access to collections and resources within libraries throughout
- Boston Library Consortium (BLC): To borrow in person, get a BLC card to bring with you when you visit any BLC library.
- Fenway Library Consortium (FLC): Students, faculty, and staff must present a valid UMB ID card to borrow from FLC libraries.
- Massachusetts Commonwealth Consortium of Libraries in Public Higher Education Institutions (MCCLPHEI): Upon presentation of a valid UMB ID card, students, faculty, and staff may borrow from libraries of all state-supported colleges and universities in the Commonwealth.
Can't find what you need in Healey Library's catalog?
UMass Boston faculty, students, and staff with a valid UMB ID card may make use of the many academic, public, and research libraries in the Greater Boston area, the state, nation, and world-wide. In most cases, the books you find can be delivered here to UMB -- for free!
Remember, when using other libraries:
Each library establishes its own rules and restrictions by which visitors are expected to abide. In some cases, libraries allow onsite
Save time before visiting another library. Ask a librarian for help locating libraries that may have what you need.
Note: some libraries permit on-site usage but do not offer borrowing privileges
