MODULE 2: SELECTING A SEARCH METHOD

These are some of the most commonly used options available on the Library catalog's Basic Search screen.

 

Search by ...

Title If you know the title (name) of a book

Journal Title If you're looking to see if the library subscribes to a periodical

Author If you know the author of a book

Subject If you know the official Library of Congress Subject Heading

Keyword-Boolean If you know how to construct a search with phrases and Boolean operators

Keyword-Relevance Ranked If you want your search results ranked by relevance

Call Number Browse If you want to scan the library's collection by call number
