How do I find articles on a topic?

  1. Go to Databases & Indexes.
  2. Choose a subject from the list that matches your topic.
  3. You will see a list of article databases by subject.
  4. Select a database or index to search your topic. 
    1. If you are unsure, look at our starting points or subject guides by department.
  5. Questions? Go to Research Help for advice, guidance and further assistance.

How do I find a specific journal, magazine, or newspaper?

  1. Search the title in e-journals to see if your publication is available online.
  2. Search the Healey Catalog to see if a print copy is available.
  3. If the Library does not own the publication you are looking for, you may request it from Interlibrary Loan. Healey Library will obtain a copy of the article for you from a library that has it – free-of-charge!

How do I find the full text of an article?

When you find a citation without the full text, find text should direct you to another database which has the complete article. If no databases are listed, use the citation information to find the article and follow these steps:

  1. Search the journal title in eJournals to see if Healey Library has an online copy of the journal. 
  2. Next, check the Healey Catalog to see if the library has the journal in print or microfilm. 
  3. Request a copy of the article using Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

How do I find articles in print or microfilm?

  1. Search the title of the journal in the Healey Catalog.
  2. Check the dates in which the library owns the journal. The dates are listed under Recent Issues and/or Older Issues.
  3. Write down the call number of the journal, if there is one.  
  4. Check the location in the catalog, either periodicals or microfilm.
  5. See the sidebar at the top of this page to locate the item in the library.
