Perkins and donated to the Franklin Association at its reunion program in 1900. Mr. Perkins was in the class of 1842. The Franklin Association was affiliated with the Teachers College of the City of Boston. The donation came to the university after the merger with Boston State College, formerly the Teachers College. It is accompanied by a copy of a letter from Perkins, a label, and a clipping concerning the donation
Biographical Note: The N. Whiting referred to in the letter was a member of the firm Darling and Whiting. He was General Nathan Whiting of the French and Indian War fame. The autograph bill of receipt from Franklin to Darling and Whiting shows that Franklin received money from the firm for remittance to London
