The Society for Helping Destitute Mothers and Infants was organized in 1873 to provide assistance to destitute and illegitimate children and their mothers. The society's aim was to provide a new mother with employment in domestic service that could enable her to keep and support her child. The society ceased operation in 1918.

The collection contains annual reports and client registers.
