4 document cases and 3 oz folders PROVENANCE This collection of publications was donated to the Archives and Special Collections Department of the Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston Library by Chris Idzik on July 1, 2002. HISTORY Chris Idzik is a high school teacher and activist from Massachusetts. Mr. Idzik collected this material through donations and purchases. SCOPE AND CONTENT This collection primarily consists of miscellaneous printed material of the Communist Party of the U.S.A. and various leftist organizations and dates from 1835 to 1991, with the bulk of the material dating from the 1930s through the 1950s. There are pamphlets, flyers and tracts from communist party organizations in the United States, primarily in the 1930s and 1940s, including publications of the Young Communist League. Also included are runs of Communist Party and labor periodicals. The donor also collected a variety of abolitionist and early suffragists’ newspapers of the United States and publications relating to race relations in the United States.
