Mosaic: Records, 1980-1990
1 file box Founded by Michael Tierney and Dan Terris, Mosaic was launched at South Boston High School in 1980 in response to the effects of court- ordered desegregation on the high school. Led by professional writers and photographers, students produced stories and photographs about themselves and their communities. A yearly anthology was published from 1980 to 1988. Additionally, exhibitions of their photographs were displayed in locations around the city. In 1989 a major traveling exhibition of stories and photographs by the students and photographs by Judith Sedwick was created, being first shown at the Boston Public Library. Katie Singer served as the Writer in Residence of the project from 1984 to 1990. The collection consists of grant proposals and reports, curricula, press releases, photocopies of news stories, and copies of the anthologies. Also included is an audiocassette tape of a story about Mosaic aired on National Public Radio's Soundprint show in 1988. FINDING AIDS: Complete
